The July 9 meeting of officials of Chisinau services and divisions was postponed. Acting mayor of Chisinau Ruslan Codreanu said the reasons for the postponement will be made public later, IPN reports.
According to an announcement made by the City Hall, the agenda of the meeting included the presentation of information about the activity of the creation centers managed by the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport and the Children’s Rights Protection Division and about the epidemiological situation in Chisinau municipality.
When the heads of municipal subdivisions gathered together in the meeting hall, acting mayor Ruslan Codreanu appeared and said the planned meeting will not take place. He apologized and said the reasons will be made known later. He wished the officials a nice and successful week.
When the meeting was to start, members of the National Resistance Movement ACUM were protesting in front of the Chisinau City Hall, demanding that the works to demolish the Gaudeamus Cinema should be stopped and that deputy mayors Nistor Grozavu and Ruslan Codreanu should resign. According to the protesters, Nistor Grozavu and Ruslan Codreanu should leave because they safeguard the interests of the leader of the PDM Vlad Plahotniuc in Chisinau. Later they registered an application signed by 70 inhabitants of Chisinau by which these demand to stop the construction of an apartment building instead of the Gaudeamus Cinema.
