Orange Moldova issued with two new licenses

The National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology issued the first national mobile phone carrier with two new licenses allowing using radio frequencies in the 800 MHz and 900 MHz bands, with the aim of providing terrestrial mobile public communications services and networks, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Regulator.

Orange Moldova obtained licenses as a result of a contest and paid the equivalent in Moldovan lei of almost €12 million license taxes into the state budget.

The licenses are valid until November 5, 2029. The Agency estimated that through the two new licenses, Orange Moldova increased its spectral portfolio by 18%.

In August 2014 Orange Moldova was issued with three licenses for using radio frequencies available in the 800, 900 and 1 800 MHz bands. Then the company paid the equivalent in Moldovan lei of €25.5 million for licenses into the state budget.
