The State Hydrometeorological Service has issued an orange code advisory for possible floods on the Prut River following the recent heavy precipitation. The level of water on the Criva-Costeşti-Stânca section is expected to rise by about 2 meters, IPN reports.
The General Inspectorate for Emergencies said the rescuers pumped water out of house yards in Șirăuți village of Briceni district, in Cârnățenii Noi village of Căușeni district, in Scoreni village of Strășeni district. The torrential rain damaged the pipes of an irrigation system on a length of 100 meters. In Leova district, the water affected at least five house yards and more than 40 fowls drowned.
Damage was also caused in Ciorești and Grozești villages of Nisporeni district, where over 4 km of a local road were destroyed. The rain affected crops in Soroca and Nisporeni districts. Local commissions for emergencies are gauging the extent of the damage.
