Weather forecasters issued an orange code warning for snowstorm for January 17 and 18. It covers 19 northern, central and southern districts of Moldova. The other parts of the country will be under yellow code advisory, IPN reports.
According to the State Hydrometeorology Service, the layer of snow will be 25-30 cm thick, while in parts even thicker. The blizzards will form snow piles. The northern wind will intensify to 23 meters per second.
On January 16, daytime temperatures will vary between 0 and +5 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures - between -3 and +2 degrees Celsius. It will grow much colder starting with January 19. The temperatures will drop to -17 degrees Celsius at night.
