The opposition and the government exchanged harsh replies following the declaring of the state of emergency. The PAS MPs accuse the Socialists of declaring the state of emergency in order to delay the snap elections, while the Socialists say such a decision derived from the disastrous pandemic situation. For their part, the PPPDA MPs said that if we have had a Government with plenipotentiary powers, the health system wouldn’t have been close to collapse, IPN reports.

According to the Socialists, the declaring of the state of emergency was determined by the record number of infected persons and the alarming number of deaths. The next few days the Government will present a concrete action plan for supporting the persons affected by the state of emergency.

“Figures show the situation is grave. During half a year, the number of people who died is higher than the number of deaths recorded throughout 2020. The economic measures in support of the population during the state of emergency will be agreed by the Government in accordance with the additional powers it obtained following the declaring of the state of emergency. All the measures to support the population will have financial backing,” Socialist MP Vladimir Odnostalco stated in the talk show “Red Button” on Moldova 1 channel.

On the other hand, the PAS MPs said the state of emergency was declared with the aim of extending the life of the current Parliament and of delaying the snap elections.

“I didn’t hear in Parliament any concrete measure that is to be taken to reduce the spread of the virus or the Government’s view about the economic population support measures. We witnessed a banal attempt by the parliamentary majority to delay the snap elections,” stated PAS MP Dan Perciun.

The PPPDA MPs said the absence of a Government with full powers is the main cause of the experienced disaster.

“We said that a Government that would prepare the snap elections and would manage the crisis should be voted in. During three months, we witnessed games between the PAS and PSRM. In the period, we lost €60 million that was to come from Romania. If we had had a plenipotentiary Government, we would have found more foreign funds to cope with the crisis,” stated PPPDA MP Liviu Vovc.

Under the Parliament’s decision, a special regime on the entrance and exit of the country and a special domestic movement regime will be applied during the state of emergency. There will be introduced a special quarantine regime and a special working regime for all the entities. Public events and assemblies will be banned.
