Director General of the Independent Sociology and Information Service “Opinia” Tudor Danii has died this morning in his office. Coordinating-Doctor of the Chisinau Emergency Service Eufalia Negreata told Info-Prim Neo that Tudor Danii aged 55 was found dead in his office, in the premises of the Trade Union House. The janitor, who opened the office at 7.00 found the body lying near the office desk. On arrival, the ambulance doctors revealed he had been dead for several hours. According to preliminary diagnosis, the sudden death was due to a heart attack. Tudor Danii was the director of the Moldova-based subsidiary of the European Centre of Social Comparative Studies, Doctor of Sociology, and professor at the International Free University of Moldova. Previously, in an interview, Tudor Danii was describing his work: “Several years ago there was a sort of optimism and hope; but now, these feelings are gone leaving great sadness instead, so great that it can be easily seen on everyone’s faces. Sad faces, sad life, dire poverty… The stress we experience has become routine. Troubles turned people into tough beings, ready to resort to violence and revenge. Poverty can be seen on our clothes, the walking manner, especially in the public places. Everyone is wicked, rude, and in villages and towns every day is a disaster. Degrading moral values have become a dangerous existential element... A sociologist cannot help oneself but be worried about the phenomena surrounding us.”
