Representatives of the associations “Solitary Parents”, “CReDO” and “Vitae” in an open letter express their profound concern about the public authorities’ inaction to the cases of intimidation of parents and students who denounce the illegalities in the education system and who during the past year spoke publicly about cases of violence or aggression in the schools and kindergartens of Chisinau, IPN reports.

The letter is addressed to the Premier, Head of Parliament, acting mayor of Chisinau, the Ministry of Education and the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport. “The school and kindergarten are no longer places where the children are safe,” said the signatories. Violence is used by mates or older students or by teachers or parents. Such situations are often confirmed by parents through different communication methods (offline and online).

The signatories warn that most of the conflicts that appear in education institutions are often based on the parents‘ refusal to pay different unofficial taxes (funds, payments to parents associations, etc). The most serious is the fact that both the managers of institutions and the functionaries of education divisions and of the Ministry of Education are making every effort not have the cases of violence denounced or to fully deny their existence. In some cases, these even “solve” the case to the child’s detriment.

The signatory organizations request the Prime Minister and the other state institutions to take measures to solve these problems. They ask to create or recreate a multi-sectorial mechanism for preventing and combing school violence, which would include legal instruments by which parents could protect their children, and to also constitute a specialized commission for preventing and dealing with cases of school violence and to make sure that the cases of violence are examined and solved within ten days.
