Open-air concert to promote European values

Transparency International - Moldova and the National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum invite to an open-air concert aimed at promoting the European values in Moldova. The event will include a performance of music from the European heritage by Kaiser Band.  The concert will be given in the central park of Chisinau, near the fountain, on June 6, starting at 11am.

Transparency International - Moldova director Lilia Karashchuk has told IPN that the goal of the event is to popularize European culture, which means taking of attitude to what is going on around. “We will suggest that we will not enter the EU if we are corrupt,” she stated.

The concert forms part of a campaign to inform about the advantages of the European integration, launched by Transparency International – Moldova. Within the campaign, members of the National Platform of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum discuss the European integration process with representatives of civil society and the mass media, civil servants and businessmen.

Each of the members explains the advantages of coming closer to the EU based on their professional expertise like human rights, rights of women and economic advantages. The representatives of Transparency International – Moldova speak about the benefits Moldova can enjoy by rooting out corruption.

Sixty seminars will be staged within the campaign to explain the advantages of the European course to businessmen. These are told how to export to the EU. “We also organize cultural events and launched a series of programs centering on European issues and a contest of essays entitled “What does it mean to be European”, together with the National Anticorruption Center,” stated Lilia Karashchuk. She added that about 1,200 persons have been informed within the campaign so far.

The event is staged by Transparency International Moldova with the support offered by USAID through the agency of the East Europe Foundation and FHI 360, within the awareness-raising campaign “EUROPE FOR YOU”. This is an apolitical information campaign designed to plainly explain the path of European integration covered by Moldova.
