Transnistria will never be a component part of Moldova because our politicians are not interested in this, considers the chairman of the Civil Society Congress Fiodor Ghelici, who is convinced that the Transnistrian conflict can be settled on by Russia and the United States, Info-Prim Neo reports. Fiodor Ghelici told a news conference that the political elite in Moldova actively promotes the idea that if Transnistria and Moldova unite, the Russians will come and occupy all the executive posts. This fact makes the Moldovans aggressive. The Civil Society Congress chairman also said that the Moldovan politicians absorb financing from the U.S., while the Transnistrian ones from Russia. “The Moldovan politicians complain to the United States that the Russians and Transnistrians cause troubles to us, while the Transnistrians complain to Moscow that they are wronged by the Romanians and Americans. It’s a good practice. Why should they deal with something else if they can endlessly invoke this conflict situation in order to obtain financing?” said Fiodor Ghelici. The Civil Society Congress sent a letter to the Embassies of Russia and the U.S. in Chisinau, saying that only the two countries can make things advance. It also expressed its disproval of the Moldovan political leaders’ refusal to meet with representatives of the U.S. visiting Moldova. Fiodor Ghelici also expressed is bewilderment at the incident that happened at the Russian Embassy in Chisinau, when the Moldovan delegation left the reception held by the Embassy on the occasion of the national day of Russia after Ambassador Valery Kuzmin presented Vladimir Yastrebchak as the foreign minister of Transnistria. “We can solve the conflict situations only by diplomacy. What kind of diplomats are those who get angry and leave a reception? Moldova always had the reputation of a hospitable country, but now the officials show the opposite. I’m ashamed when I hear about such deeds by the politicians,” said Fiodor Ghelici. According to him, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iurie Leanca should have suggested Valery Kuzmin to present the Transnistrian invitees in a different way if he felt bothered as such receptions are occasions where solutions to crisis situations can be found.
