The police said that a group of young people who took part in the protest at about 4am this morning moved the tents pitched in front of the Prosecutor General’s Office to the roadway, blocking the street. The police intervened and unblocked the road. The protesters left the protest venue, abandoning the tents and leaving litter behind them. According to the General Police Inspectorate, when asked about the reasons for such a decision, protesters said the decision to leave was a collective one. For its part, the Shor Party that organized the protest said the police at night stealthily destroyed the tent town and detained four protesters, IPN reports.

“We note that three aggressive persons who disobeyed and insulted police officers were taken to the Inspectorate at night for being investigated. We repeatedly call on the local public administration, through the agency of its specialized subdivisions, to ensure cleanness at the protest venue and the area nearby and to also take into account the previous requests made by the police,” runs a press release issued by the General Police Inspectorate.

The Shor Party noted that the police committed a nocturnal abuse. “In the early hours, when it was yet dark outside, a large number of police officers went and violently destroyed the tent town set up in front of the Prosecutor General’s Office. Four of the protesters were arrested. As the previous time, the action was taken without a legal reason and without prior notice,” said the party.

The Shor Party announced a new antigovernment protest for October 30.

A number of public associations condemned the actions of the organizers of the protest mounted on October 26 in front of the PGO. In a statement, these said that the actions went beyond the legal limit and were taken with the bad intention of blocking the building of a public institution.
