Only streets of the capital are repaired this year in the municipality Chisinau

The interim mayor of the municipality Chisinau, Vasile Ursu, forbids “repairing”, this year, of the streets of the municipality, including of the districts’ ones, in order to avoid illogical use of public money. Ursu a said on Monday, 13 March, at the operative meeting that “repairing” the streets is only a useless money loss. He required the persons responsible within the municipal services to explore the real possibilities of financing and to draft a schedule for making the repairing of the roads of the municipality. In the same time, he required to analyse the possibilities to involve the businessmen of the municipality in repairing works of the streets. The head of the Public Transport and Communications Department of Municipal Council (DTPCCCM), Veaceslav Tarna, reported at the same meeting that the temperatures of 28 degrees below zero registered this winter for a week, as well as those 12 cycles of frost-thaw this winter, damaged significantly the roads of the municipality. According to him, there are too many complaints, requesting the repairing works of accesses near the buildings. He also mentioned that inter-district works, planned for this year would cost 85 million lei and begin once the weather improves and would be done the spring evaluation. According to him, this year the road workers will deal with serious problems, as the forecasts show that there will be necessary much more repairing works, but the budgetary limit being the same of last year, when only 500,000 square meters of streets were repaired. In the same time, he also mentioned that rural places require repairing works of the roads, but money at to this point were not foreseen in the local budget. Another serious problem that the road workers deal with is, in Tarna’s opinion, the incertitude regarding gas price and materials necessary to make the asphalt. This fact would be an obstacle in starting as soon as possible the repairing works of the roads, even the technique necessary to produce asphalt is ready, the plant of producing asphalt being prepared as well.
