Only one official revealed his income statement over the past week

Over the past week (March 14-20), Deputy Minister of Information Development Pavel Buceatchi was the only public official to reveal his personal income and property statement for 2007 as part of the Property in Sight Campaign, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the statement, Pavel Buceatchi’s only source of income in 2007 was his salary of deputy minister, worth 79,606.41 lei. The Property in Sight Campaign was launched by the anticorruption supplement “Obiectiv”, published by the Independent Press Association (API) and the Anticorruption Alliance. Among the public officials who joined the campaign and made their income statements public are Speaker Marian Lupu, Deputy Speaker Maria Postoico, the MPs Dumitru Braghis, Grigore Petrenco, Vlad Cubreacov, Valentina Serpul, Vitalia Pavlicenco, Ion Varta, Oleg Tulea and Vlad Filat, Chisinau Mayor General Dorin Chirtoaca, Floresti Mayor Iurie Tap, Deputy Minister of Education and Youth Ion Ceban, Chisinau Deputy Mayor Nistor Grozavu and Health Minister Ion Ababii. The campaign was initiated to encourage politicians, civil servants and other public officials, who have nothing to hide and support the principle of transparency, to make their incomes and property known to the general public.
