Only one company ready to remove its billboards

Only one economic entity agreed to voluntarily take away the billboards that were set up illegally on the section of Dacia Blvd. between the City’s Gates and the Airport, the head of the Architecture and Urbanism Division Radu Blaj announced in the May 14 meeting of Chisinau City Hall officials, Info-Prim Neo reports. Radu Blaj said the given company has four billboards on the given road section. The other economic entities refuse to take away the billboards put up there illegally. Mayor of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca said that the municipal administration will sue the companies that do not want to remove the billboards voluntarily so as to oblige them to do it or to pay the costs incurred by the City Hall for dismantling them. “It is strange that the economic entities refuse to obey the law,” he stated. Earlier, Dorin Chirtoaca ordered removing the billboards from the mentioned road section by June 1. Recently, he suggested starting taking them away before this deadline. Last July, the legislative body adopted amendments to the Road Law, banning the setting up of billboards at a distance smaller than six meters from the roadway and near bridges, viaducts and road barriers. Outside settlements, the billboards must be built up at a distance of minimum 150 meters of road signs.
