Only one candidate might be needed for electing head of state

One or more persons will be able to apply for the post of President of Moldova. A bill to modify the voting procedure will be presented by the MPs for approval at Thursday's meeting of the Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports. The modifications have been examined by the special commission for the election of the head of state and included in the bill. The head of state was to be elected on October 23. But the voting procedure was postponed as there was registered only one candidate and the law did not clearly say how many candidates were needed. The special commission asked the Parliament to give it ten days to examine the modifications proposed to the voting procedure. Within three days of the amendment of the law, the commission will set the date of the presidential election.
