For the current year, around 20 million lei were allocated for the renovation of block courtyards in the capital. So far, the authorities have used only about 11 million lei for the repair works of sidewalks and access roads to the yards.

During an operational meeting at the City Hall, the head of the Directorate of Public Transport and Communications, Adrian Boldurescu, said that out of the nearly 11 million lei, the repair of about 26 thousand square meters was accomplished. Another four thousand square meters are expected to be repaired. Most of the money was spent in the Botanica, Buiucani and Ciocana sectors, where the renovated areas are larger than in other sectors.

According to him, the works are 80% complete. So far, works have been carried out in the courts selected on the basis of a program developed at the suggestion of the praetors. Additional proposals will be planned for next year.

The budgets allocated for the repair of the block yards vary between several hundred thousand lei and up to two million lei, depending on the area of the court, the surface of the asphalt and the parking space.

The interim mayor of the capital, Adrian Talmaci, asked the sector praetors to inspect the block courts that were left unfinished and if necessary, to dispatch the relevant municipal services.

In total, the municipal housing fund consists of about a thousand block courts.
