Only an attractive salary can make the psychologists want to work in schools, the pro-rector of the State Teacher Training University “Ion Creanga” Nicolae Andronati said when asked to forecast if the Ministry of Education will be able by autumn to find 1,500 psychologists for work in schools, as stipulated in the national plan for the protection of children who remained without parental care that was recently approved by the Government, Info-Prim Neo reports. A graduate of the psychology faculty who works in another field and has a higher salary will not abandon his job to go and work in school, Nicolae Andronati said. The pro-rector said the Education Minister Leonid Bujor’s initiative to organize re-qualification psychology courses for teachers of other subjects if the necessary 1,500 psychologists are not found is not bad. The history, geography and foreign language teachers also studied psychology at university and these courses will help them remember what they learned, Nicolae Andronati said. More than 100 young people graduate from the psychology faculty of the Chisinau-based Teacher Training University “Ion Creanga” every year. The institution of the post of psychologist in schools is provided for in the national plan for the protection of children who remained without parental care. “We aim to gradually employ psychologists in all the schools, first of all in those with a large number of children,” Leonid Bujor said earlier, in a meeting of the governmental commission for protecting the children left behind by parents working abroad.
