In the Republic of Moldova, women manage 27% of the businesses, with 85% of these being situated in urban areas. The discrepancy between rural and urban women remains wide. In the second National Women’s Forum, the National Women’s Platform of Moldova set the goal of gathering together women entrepreneurs and representatives of local public authorities to contribute to building a favorable climate for performing entrepreneurial activities in regions, including for women entrepreneurs. The event is held in Chisinau on December 16, IPN reports.
The Platform’s chairman Iulia Iabanji, director general of the Organization for Developing the Sector of Small and Mediums-Sized Enterprises, said the event brought together over 300 women leaders of Moldova, including entrepreneurs, mayors or women who hold managerial posts. “The activities of this forum are designed to support the economic initiatives of women in business, especially of those who intend to start a business in rural areas,” she stated.
The forum includes three workshops. The first workshop centers on social entrepreneurship: current situation and development prospects. The second focuses on the role of the local public administration in developing women’s entrepreneurship. The third will discuss the role of public organizations in developing women’s entrepreneurship. The participants will also consider the causes of the insufficient activity of regional business associations and public organizations, including those managed by women. There will also be presented success stories in the country’s regions.
Within the forum, the managers of companies that actively apply the women’s empowerment principles and provide modern advantages for society were awarded.
The forum “Woman who changes the world” is staged by the National Women’s Platform Moldova in cooperation with the Organization for Developing the Sector of Small and Mediums-Sized Enterprises.
