Only 10% of Moldovans go to church every week

10 per cent of Moldovan adults attend church once a week or more often, Info-Prim Neo has learned from researches carried out by the World Values Survey Association, based in the United States, which gathers globally renowned sociologists into a network.
Also, 10 per cent of believers attend at least one mass a week in Ukraine, Georgia and Bulgaria, while in Romania the ratio is 20 per cent.
According to the research, the most faithful Christians live in Nigeria, since 89% of them go to church at least once a week, followed by the Irish Catholics (84%) and the Philippine Catholics (68%).
The list of those 53 countries studied is closed by Russia, where only two per cent of Christians go to church every week.
According to the last census carried out in R. Moldova in 2004, 93.3% of the interviewed declared themselves to be Eastern Orthodox, 0.96% - Baptists, while 4,645 of respondents said they were Roman-Catholics.
At the same time, 1.35 per cent said they atheists or without religion. Over 3 per cent of respondents belong to other religions or did not want to state their adherence to any cult. Religious leaders have assessed for Info-Prim Neo that in Moldova there would be by about 30,000 of Muslims, Jews and Jehovah’s witnesses.
