The public association “Solidary parents” launched an online petition by which it demands to ensure a safe and friendly environment for the growth and harmonious development of children in kindergartens. The signatories of the petition addressed to Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Minister of Education Monica Babuc seek the installation of surveillance cameras in all the preschool education institutions, to whose recordings the parents would have access, and implementation of other measures, IPN reports.

Representatives of the association said society has been lately shaken by resounding cases of abuse and use of violence in preschool education institutions. Besides these cases that were broadly disseminated by the media, the parents continue to signal other cases of abuse against children committed by teachers and auxiliary personnel of kindergartens, through social networking sites. “Nevertheless, they remain an unanswered appeal for help. Each parents has to struggle by oneself and to cope with a non-reformed and outdated system that contains authoritarian practices and views on education,” says the petition.

Among the requests is to also stage training courses with the involvement of psychologists and experts in child psychology and to systematically assess teachers and non-teaching staffs of kindergartens with the help of psychologists so as to identify the persons who commit abuses and use violence against children.

The public association “Solidary parents” requests to financially stimulate the teachers depending on the attended training courses and to penalize the managers of early education institutions whose employees commit acts of violence.

Recently, a mother whose child attends kindergarten No. 185 in Buiucani district of Chisinau published an audio recording where it is heard how employees of the institution shout at children and insult them, hitting even some of them.
