A Chisinau online-ordering pizzeria has been caught giving short weights. Following an inspection by the Consumer Protection Agency based on consumer complaints, the business faces a fine of up to 1,000 lei.

As part of the check, the Agency's inspectors ordered a pizza, which was supposed to weigh 890 grams according to the vendor's website, but in reality the pizza tipped the scales at only 682 grams. In monetary value it meant that the customer got cheated by 16.84 lei.

Also, while the pizzeria's website stated delivery was free for larger orders, in reality a surcharge of 5 lei was added to each pizza delivered “for free”, which represented another serious violation of the consumer's rights.

The Agency is yet to decide on the fine after analyzing the inspectors' report.

The Agency is advising the members of the public to call 022741464 or 080028028 whenever they experience or see a violation of consumer's rights. Also, consumers are advised not to accept products when they have doubts as to their freshness, quality or packaging.
