The journalists in Moldova will have access to an online specialized library on www.mediasource.info, where they can collect facts before writing articles and find specialized literature. The online platform entitled “Journalist’s library” will facilitate the work of the journalists as they will find the necessary information in the online library and will not lose time looking for it. On April 4, supporters of this platform created a Consortium designed to provide the national journalistic guild with the informative-documentary resources needed for high-quality journalism, IPN reports.
The Consortium members will keep and supplement the online library, will put the possessed collections into circulation for journalists and will archive the relevant materials. Member of the Consortium’s Administration Board, journalist Ion Bunduchi said the online library already contains enough materials, including all the journalistic investigations from the print media of Moldova since 2000. “Those who worked to create the library had to look hard for these journalistic investigations, which were scanned and uploaded,” he stated.
The online library consists of a number of divisions such as textbooks, studies in the field, researches, master’s and doctoral theses, etc. According to Ion Bunduchi, all the divisions will be supplemented so that the persons studying journalisms, the beginning and established journalists find the materials they need, especially for the documentation stage, on this platform.
The “Journalist’s library” is open to everyone, but those who use its content must make reference to the source. The members of the Consortium hope that the impact of this online library will be the same as the impact of a traditional library and will thus be a ‘temple of knowledge’.
The online platform “Journalist’s library” is an initiative of the Media Program of Soros Foundation Moldova. It will be launched officially during the Press Freedom Days that are celebrated in Moldova starting with May 3.
