One-stop desk initiative to be implemented starting Dec.1

One-stop desks will be available at Moldovan border checkpoints starting December 1, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the head of the Customs Service, Viorel Melnic. According to Melnic, the Customs Service is now weighing the pros and cons of this initiative while running a trial of such one-stop desks at the checkpoints in Sculeni and Tudora, and if this process proves successful the one-stop desk will be implemented without any doubt. “Institutionally, all the measures have been taken (...) only the technical aspects remain to be settled”, Melnic sated. The idea of the one-stop desk is to reduce bureaucracy at the border. Technically this means that the Customs Service and the Border Guards Service will take over the responsibilities of all the agencies previously located within the border checkpoints.
