Petru Ursache left the posts of judge and vice president of the Supreme Court of Justice. The resignation was approved by the Superior Council of Magistracy in its February 20 meeting, IPN reports.
The letter of resignation was examined in the absence of the judge, at his request. The Superior Council of Magistracy is to inform Parliament about the resignation of Petru Ursache, who was named vice president of the Supreme Court of Justice by the legislature in July 2014. Also, the Council announced a contest to fill the vacant post. Applications can be submitted within 20 days of the publication of the decision in the Official Gazette.
In the same meeting, the Council approved the resignation handed in by Vera Toma from the posts of judge and member of the Superior Council of Magistracy.
