One more suspect in case of Soroca crime convicted

The prosecution will appeal the decision whereby a man was sentenced to 13 years in jail for robbing a couple from Soroca and then killing them as they consider the sentence is too lenient, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the prosecutors, in December 2009, the 32-year-old man, together with another four persons, all masked and armed, entered the house of a family from Soroca district. One of the robbers was the nephew of one of the victims, who knew that the couple sold a house and had money. The attackers tied the husband and wife and demanded that they gave them US$20,000. As the victims refused, they beat and electrocuted them. Afterward, they splashed alcohol on them and set them on fire. The robbers took with them 1 150 lei they found in the house, a ring and a necklace with a cross. The man and the woman died in the hospital. Two of the culprits got 6 to 20 years behind bars. Another one is to be extradited from a penitentiary in Russia, while the sentence of another offender was suspended as he is seriously sick.
