Another candidate running for MP on the list of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) in the snap parliamentary elections of July 11 withdrew. Entrepreneur Alexandru Catan, who was under No. 45 on the list, took such a decision after “the press controlled by Dodon disseminated false and denigrating information” about him, IPN reports.

According to Catan, it goes to a criminal case started against him during the rule of Vlad Plahotniuc. “The press financed with money from the kulyoks of Plahotniuc and from Bahamas trues to harm my image and the image of the Party of Action and Solidarity in this election campaign, even if that case was fabricated and was soon dropped,” the ex-candidate posted on Facebook, noting he remains near the PAS.

“I decided to withdraw my candidacy for MP from the PAS list so as not to allow the opponents to distract the Party of Action and Solidarity from our objective to clean the political class.”

Earlier, journalist Nata Albot announced her decision to withdraw from the PAS’s list. It happened after the leader of the Party “Building Europe at Home” Gheorghe Cavcaliuc said the eighth place on the list of a party is occupied by a candidate for MP who in 2016 was caught on the Chisinau International Airport with drugs. It was later reported that it was a quantity of 0.78 grams of marijuana.
