Two days after the suspension of Gheorghe Cernei, one more weightlifter was disqualified for two years after failing a dope test. This is Alexandru Spac, who became European vice champion in April, IPN reports.

At the competition in Albania, Spac also won by a bronze medal in snatch and in clean and jerk. The three medals will be withdrawn. The 23-year-old athlete also medaled at the European championships in 2010 and 2012.

The president of the Moldovan Football Federation Tudor Casapu was unavailable for comment.

Alexandru Spac is the third Moldovan weightlifter who has been suspended this year, after Gheorghe Cernei and Igor Bour. Athlete Zalina Marghieva and freestyle wrestler Elena Turcan also failed dope tests in 2013.
