One more member was elected on the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia in the second round of voting held in Congaz village of Comrat district on April 5.
The head of the Comrat Election Commission Valentin Cara has told IPN that according to the preliminary results, Ivan Telpiz polled 66.09% of the vote, while his opponent Vitalie Chiurcciu – 33.91%. The Commission is to transmit the results of the second round of voting to the Comrat Appeals Court for validation.
The second round was held after none of the three candidates who ran in this constituency gained the necessary number of votes in the first round on March 22. Petru Ianacov won then the lowest number of votes and was eliminated from the race.
The elections to choose the own representative of Congaz consistency to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia were announced after former representative Demian Caraseni was elected as a member of Moldova’s Parliament.
