One more doctor lost the battle with COVID-19 on August 3. This is family doctor Ala Gortolomei, 65, who worked at the Țaul Health Center in Dondușeni district. The announcement was made by representatives of the Trade Union Federation “Health”, IPN reports.
“It is with great regret that we learned about the death of family doctor Ala Gortolomei, who worked at the Țaul Health Center in Dondușeni district, succumbing to COVID-19. We express our sincere condolences to the grieving family and colleagues,” runs the message.
“As her state of health worsened, Ala Gortolomei on July 24 was transferred from the Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Health to the Emergency Medicine Institute. It should be noted that the doctor was on leave when she became infected,” said the Ministry of Health.
Over 20 healthcare workers succumbed to COVID-19 in Moldova so far. The general death toll from COVID-19 now stands at 801.
