One more child was admitted to the hospital after this was beaten by his father. The eight-month-old boy was hit cruelly by his father against the bed edge as this was disturbed by his crying. It happened in Mircesti village of Ungheni district on February 16, IPN reports, quoting the portal E-medicina.
The child was taken to the hospital in four days. Initially, he was admitted to the Ungheni District Hospital with head injury. The Hospital’s vice director Gennady Serbul said the boy stayed in the hospital for several hours. He was examined by the neurologist and it was then decided to transport him to Chisinau by an ambulance of the AVIASAN service.
Now the boy and his mother are at the Mother and Child Institute in Chisinau. The child suffered a frontal hematoma as a result of the beating. According to the Institute’s press officer Stela Andrei, he was admitted to the intensive care section and his condition stabilized. Afterward, he was transferred to the neurosurgery section and could be discharged in a week if no complications appear.
The child is from a poor family and his parents are addicted to alcohol. Gheorghe Filipovici, mayor of Boghenii Noi village that includes Mircesti, said the couple often drinks alcohol. They do not work and do not have residence in the village. They live at the man’s relatives. The mother is 21, while the father is 22. “They are heavy drinkers. Villagers repeatedly warned the authorities. I visited them together with the sector police officer and medical assistant. We ascertained that we cannot help them. I don’t know if they have at least identity cards,” noted the mayor.
Press officer of the Ungheni Police Inspectorate Oxana Toderita said the child’s father was initially held for 72 hours and was then arrested. He faces three years in jail.

A ten-month-old boy was placed in intensive care at the District Hospital after he was beaten by his father and suffered a concussion. His state of health is now satisfactory, but he is to be examined by specialists of the Mother and Child Institute to see if he should be transferred to Chisinau for treatment or not.
