Minibuses No. 103 during almost a year have travelled along Ștefan cel Mare Blvd in Chisinau after being rerouted to the central artery in connection with the repair of 31 August 1989 St. Officials of the Chisinau City Hall cannot say how long the works will yet last.
Asked by IPN to provide details, acting head of the General Public Transport and Communications Division Lilian Copaci said no repair works are now performed on 31 August 1989 St as the weather does not permit. A section of the street is passable, while another part is not.
The minibuses from other routes that ran on 31 August 1989 St before the launch of repair works were diverted to București St. According to Lilian Copaci, minibus route No. 103 could also have been diverted to București St, but the traffic there is heavier and vehicles cannot turn left, while the itinerary along Ștefan cel Mare Blvd is more convenient, including for travelers.
In November 2014, by regulations approved by the municipality, all the minibuses were banned from running along the main artery of Chisinau.
