The Prosecutor General’s Office held one of the alleged organizers of the cigarettes smuggling attempt stopped at Albita customs on March 5, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to a press release of the PGO, the suspect is a 28-year-old Moldovan citizen, officially unemployed. The PGO was expected to remit his case to the court on June 25. Meanwhile, he is being kept in the penitentiary of the Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption. March 11, Prosecutor General Valeriu Zubco withdrew the confiscated materials and the file from border police’s control. He created a special group to investigate this case. In the early hours of March 5, border guards and customs officers at Albita discovered 700,000 cigarettes packs hidden in a truck with Moldovan plates.
