An exhibition centering on Moldovans who fought in World War II and events that marked that period will be staged at the Memorial Complex “Eternity” on May 9. The exhibition titled “Through the Angle of Events and Personalities” will present archive documents and photos of soldiers, mayor general Ion Ceban announced in the meeting of officials of municipal services, IPN reports.
The mayor noted that 650,000 Moldovans and people of other ethnic groups from Moldova died in World War II and such data will be presented in the event. At 8am, together with the team, the mayor will lay flowers at the Memorial Complex “Eternity”. “On Victory Day, on May 9, we commemorate those who died in World War II that covered the territory of the Republic of Moldova too. In parallel, we offer assistance in the organization and celebration of Europe Day that will be marked in Chisinau on May 13, even if this holiday is officially celebrated on May 9,” stated Ion Ceban.
“It is our duty to bear in mind the past and to avoid such horrors. We are sorry about our neighbors who are experiencing this cruel war.”
