The border guards of the Border Guard Service mark the 14th anniversary since creation.
The Commander of the Border Guards Service of the Republic of Moldova declared that the institution is transforming in the context of joining Europe. In this way the Service is creating the informational-analytic system, compatible with the same systems of EU border systems for the improvement of the data exchange on national and international level, cooperation with the neighbor countries and with the similar services of the EU member-countries.
At the same time, says the quoted source, in order to shift to a professional surveillance and security border system, a proper instruction of international standards is required. Implementing the process of gradual instruction of the Border Guards Service requires employing only with contracts, an obligatory request are the high education studies or specialized high-school education.
Referring to the activity of the Service in the context of the anniversary, Igor Colenov declared in the first five months of the year the border inspectors authorized entering in Moldova of about 3 million persons and about 700 thousand transport unities. Almost daily, states the Troop general, are discovered persons that present false documents. In the mentioned-above period the employees of the Service discovered 3 thousand infringements and on 200 of them were instituted legal proceedings. The border troops also found about 300 disappeared persons. On the “green” segment were discovered 500 persons that were trying to cross illegally the state border.
The 14th anniversary, says Igor Colenov, will be celebrated as usual – in all the subdivisions will come all the persons that were wearing green peek caps to meet with the soldiers who are guarding at the moment the border.
A day before the anniversary, first dog contests took place between the subdivisions of the Service. The first place was offered to the insurance squad “Chisinau”, and all the dogs were awarded with medals and 15 kg of dog food for each participant, says the commander of the Border Guards Service, Igor Colenov.
The west border sector was declared under the full and exclusive jurisdiction of the Republic of Moldova through the decree of the President, Mircea Snegur on September 31, 1991. On June 15, 1992 the Border Guards Service was created and the first commander being named the Troop General, Vasile Calmoi. At the end of May in 1995 was instituted the professional day of the border guards – June 16.
