The National Bank of Moldova (NBM) has put into circulation commemorative coins called "Anniversary of the national currency", thus celebrating the Moldovan leu that was introduced as a national currency on November 29, 1993.
The mintage of the 2024 issue includes 300 gold coins, with a face value of 100 lei, and 500 silver coins, with a face value of 50 lei. The coins are packaged in transparent capsules and presentation boxes, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, which includes a QR code that redirects users to detailed information about coins' characteristics.
The NBM said that for the first time, starting with December 2, it will allow the public to submit online applications for the purchase of coins directly from the institution. Applications can be filed through the "Coins and commemorative banknotes" section on the official website of the NBM, and the answers will be given within five working days.
Commemorative coins are sold through the agency of licensed banks. Additional details on the purchase of coins can be found on the central bank’s official website.
