The ombudsman for children’s rights reacted to the case of a 10-year-old boy who was kicked out of a trolleybus in Chisinau. The official asked the Chisinau Electric Transport Company to investigate all the circumstances of the case, as well as the actions taken by the institution to respect and protect the rights of children in urban transport.

The ombudsman for children’s rights previously received similar complaints of improper conduct on the part of public transit employees in relation to commuting children in Chisinau. The ombudsman urges the decision-makers of the concerned institution to take all possible actions in order to prevent cases of abuse by employees towards children.

A 10-year-old boy complained that he was mistreated by a trolleybus conductor after she asked him to pay for the ride. The boy’s mother wrote on social media that her child got stuck and could not answer the conductor because she addressed him in Russian, a language that he doesn’t speak. The woman said that she filed a complaint with RTEC. Later, she announced that she was contacted by the municipal company and the problem was solved.
