Olympic House inaugurated in Chisinau

The Olympic House in Chisinau was opened after renovation on July 7. The inaugural ceremony included the unveiling of the sculpture “Olympic Excellence” and the presentation of the sports equipment and official uniforms of the national Olympic team of Moldova for the Rio de Janiero Olympics, IPN reports.

Nicolae Juravschi, president of the National Olympic Committee, said they have great expectations of the 22 Moldovan athletes who will compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics and expect that these will mount the winner’s rostrum in Rio de Janeiro.

Attending the event, Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu underlined the importance of supporting the athletes and of promoting sports in Moldova. “It is a very good occasion in connection with the 25th anniversary of the foundation of the National Olympic Committee of Moldova for the athletes to move to a new home. I wish them to fill this house with special accomplishments and as many medals as possible,” he stated.

The Olympic House was renovated with the assistance of Moldova’s Parliament and Government and of the International Olympic Committee.
