Olympic bronze medalist Gojan and coach Caduc to receive promised rewards

The Moldovan Government promised a 1 million lei worth reward to honor boxer Veaceslav Gojan, his coach Petru Caduc and the technical staff for their Olympic results – a bronze medal in the welterweight division. The reward will be split as follows: equals sums of 428,085 lei (30,000 euros) will go to Gojan and Caduc, while doctors Maria Robu and Alexandru Buza will receive 21,404 lei (1,500 euros) and 64,213 lei (4,500 euros), respectively. Moldova sent 29 athletes to the XXIX Summer Olympic Games in Beijing to compete in 9 events – athletics, weightlifting, judo, wrestling, women wrestling, swimming, cycling, boxing and shooting. Gojan's bronze, the only Olympic medal in the last 8 years, ranked Moldova the 81th out of 205 countries that competed in Beijing.
