Olga Coptu tendered her resignation from the post of head of the Bureau for Diaspora Relations, informing about this by a message on a social networking site. She said she reached such a decision consciously and noted that no country strategy can be put into practice without taking into account the citizens from the diaspora, IPN reports.

She stated a lot is yet to be done in the fields of the diaspora, migration and development and these areas should definitely be prioritized in Moldova.

Olga Coptu was named head of the Bureau for Diaspora Relations by an order signed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, replacing ex-head Valeriu Turea. She was a member of the Moldovan diaspora in Italy, who returned home in 2014. She graduated from the Faculty of History of the State University of Moldova and later from the Faculty of Politico Sciences and International Relations of the Sapienza University of Rome.

In 2009, she founded the Moldovan migrants’ newspaper “Gazeta Basarabiei”, which was distributed to such countries as Italy, France, Portugal, Switzerland, Belgium, and Greece. Earlier, she worked at the International Relations Bureau and the Ministry of Culture.
