An initiative group submitted documents to the Justice Ministry on Monday to form a new political party. The NGO “Casa Noastra Chisinau” (Our House Chisinau) will become the party “Our House Moldova” in case the Ministry okays their request, Info-Prim Neo reports. The president of the initiative group, the Chisinau councilor Oleg Oniscenco, has told a news conference they collected 5,000 signatures from a range of Moldovan districts. “All the documents are in good order and we don't expect a negative answer from the Justice Ministry,” Oniscenco says. According to him, the new party will race in the 2009 parliamentary elections. He is optimistic as to their chances to enter the parliament, although he hopes the ruling party will lower the electoral threshold from 6% to 5%. Oniscenco says he will work the coming 5-7 years so that the new party “Our House Moldova” should become one of the strongest amongst the Moldovan Parties. The party says it is center-left, with social-democratic aspects and patriotic elements. The party's core idea is to unite the Moldovan society and the political forces from Moldova. They plead for Moldova's integration in the European Union. Asked how the Moldovan Parliament will look like after the 2009 pol, Oniscenco credited the Communists with most of the chances and the People's Christian-Democratic Party. Speaking about, the center-right parties, he said the situation was “very unclear,” but the new parliament will be “a coalition one,” with the Communists having the heaviest say.
