Oldest trolleybus goes on tour of hour through Chisinau

After 60 years of the launch of the first trolleybus line on a central street in Chisinau, the trolleybus that conveyed the first passengers went on a tour of honor along the same route on Monday, October 12, Info-Prim Neo reports. The trolleybus set off from the Trolleybus Company located on Columna Street and stopped at the Chisinau City Hall to take passengers – the mayor of Chisinau, municipal division heads, district heads and journalists. Afterward, it followed the old route up to the Railway Station. It stopped at all the stations and the people could get onto it. The older persons smiled when they saw it as it transported them when they were young. The passengers were delighted to travel with the retro trolleybus though the engine made a very high sound. Sixty years ago, this trolleybus replaced the noisy tramways traveling through central Chisinau. It is the only trolleybus that remained of the six that had run in Chisinau for 20 years. It was thoroughly repaired at a cost of about 100,000 lei and will take a place of honor in the museum of the Electric Transport Company.
