Starting with November 18, the filling stations will post fuel prices that will be by 0.20-0.30 lei lower. The price reduction was announced in a meeting of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Andrian Candu with representatives of oil companies operating in Moldova, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué of the Ministry of Economy.

“I know that you have yet to do certain calculations and make forecasts, depending on the foreign exchange rate. I’m glad you realize that regardless of the fluctuations, the prices must be reduced further. Any cheapening is welcome,” stated Andrian Candu.

The representatives of the oil companies informed the Deputy Prime Minister that they sustain losses as a result of price reductions when the exchange rate is unstable. Andrian Candu promised he will discuss the issue with the governor of the National Bank. “The goal is to supply fuel at a fair price, but the oil industry should also not be affected,” he stated.

The reduction in fuel prices comes after another series of price diminutions witnessed at the end of October, when the prices were decreased by 0.50 lei.
