Romanian or Moldovan? The lawmakers argued again over the subject of the official language when they were to vote for the ratification of an agreement on bilateral customs cooperation with Spain. The relevant bill provides that the text is in the Moldovan language. This aroused the dissatisfaction of the Liberal MPs, IPN reports.

MP Corina Fusu reminded that a definitive and irrevocable decision of the Constitutional Court says the text of the Declaration of Independence, where Romanian is named the official language, is constitutional and is more important than the text of the supreme law, where it is said that Moldova is the official language.

Head of the commission on foreign affairs Ana Gutu said she will send a letter to Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman by which she will ask correcting this mistake.

Head of the Democratic faction Marian Lupu asked the MPs not to delay the adoption of the bill as the bilateral agreements are not signed with reserve. “We either ratify it or not. There is no other way,” he stated.

Most of the MPs voted for the ratification of the agreement.
