Update: Angela Cutasevici, former secretary of state at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, did not receive either enough votes to be appointed as deputy mayor of the capital. 25 councilors voted for her, while at least 26 votes were required.

Angela Cutasevici told councilors that she had been working as a teacher for 29 years. She was an institutional manager for nine years, and secretary of state for a year and a half. She also mentioned that she accepted the mayor's proposal in order to continue the activities initiated in the field of educational policies. Angela Cutasevici stated that, having this experience, she was sure that she could contribute to the improvement of the educational and social system in Chisinau.

PAS councilor Vasile Grădinaru asked the candidate why during the parliamentary election campaign she accompanied Vlad Plahotniuc, former PDM leader, in the trips across the country. Angela Cutasevici replied that it was not at the expense of the public office she held, that she did not campaign in favor of the PDM, but made the trips to interact with people.

The PPPDA, PAS and PUN councilors did not support Angela Cutasevici's candidacy.

Update: Ilie Ceban's candidacy for the post of deputy mayor of the capital obtained 25 votes, an insufficient number to be appointed to office. Ilie Ceban was to be in charge of the legal field, local public administration and human resources management.

Before his candidacy was put to a vote, Ilie Ceban mentioned in front of the councilors that he was employed as lawyer for the last ten years, had vast experience in working with citizens and providing legal services. Also, he worked in several companies, being responsible for the legal area.

The councilors of PPPDA and PAS groups did not support Ilie Ceban's candidacy, arguing that he did not understand the duties that were assigned to him, although he proved to be a professional in the field.

Update: The candidacy of Inga Ionesii for the position of deputy mayor of the capital, put to a vote at Chisinau City Council meeting of November 20, was not promoted. 25 councilors voted for her, which is an insufficient number for holding this position.

Inga Ionesii is the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Estonia and her term will end soon. In a Skype speech at the CMC meeting, the candidate, who was to be responsible for the economic segment at the City Hall, said she wanted to transform the city of Chisinau into a modern European capital, due to the investments she proposed to attract.

The PL councilors did not support the candidacy of Inga Ionesii, dissatisfied with the fact that she did not appear in front of the elected local officials. PAS councilors abstained from voting, while those from the PPPDA group rejected the candidacy because of "obvious political implications in favor of the Democratic Party".

Initial news story: Victor Chironda elected deputy mayor of the capital

Victor Chironda was elected deputy mayor of Chisinau with the vote of 41 councilors. He will be in charge of the urban planning area, IPN reports.

Victor Chironda has told councilors that he accepted the position of deputy mayor as it is an opportunity to carry out the projects he has been working on for the last seven years. Urban planning is an area he is interested in and will continue to be concerned with.

Victor Chironda also has said he will work to ensure comfortable public transportation, comfortable sidewalks, bicycle infrastructure, modern public spaces and will contribute to the development of feasible urban planning documentation.

Ion Ceban, Chisinau Mayor General wished Deputy Mayor Victor Chironda success in his activity and thanked the councilors for their votes. The mayor also said he would give Victor Chironda sufficient independence in his activity.

Deputy mayors of the capital are elected at the proposal of the general mayor by the decision of the Municipal Council, adopted with the vote of the majority of elected councilors. If the draft decision on the election of a deputy mayor is excluded from the agenda of two consecutive meetings or does not meet the required number of votes at two consecutive meetings, the general mayor appoints the deputy mayor by ordinance, which is brought to the notice of the Municipal Council.
