Representatives of the public association “Honor, Dignity and Homeland” (Unirea - ODIP) consider the day of June 28 is a morning day when the Romanian nation kneeled down and now, after 77 years of Soviet occupation, it’s time for the people to get up with pride and to promote the historical truth. In a move to promote the national values and the union with Romania, ODIP on July 1 launches the Union Caravan that will travel to villages in 12 districts of the country during six weeks.

In a news conference at IPN, ODIP leader Vlad Biletski said that during the six weeks, the Union Caravan will go through Ialoveni, Hancesti, Straseni, Criuleni, Anenii Noi, Stefan Voda, Causeni and other districts. The people will be given brochures with information about the benefits of the union with Romania. On the opposite side, there will be written myths about this desideratum so as not to allow the movement to be thwarted.

Vlad Biletski noted that the people will be shown videos with incontestable evidence of the betrayal of President Igor Dodon. The video presented in the news conference was a compilation of the President’s anti-unionist statements and of moments of the time that Igor Dodon was an MP, namely when he refused to vote for the dismissal of Vlad Plahotniuc from the post of Deputy Speaker of Parliament and when he voted for Nicolae Timofti to be named President.

“He said that he would not vote for Timofti and that he was against Plahotniuc... You saw who Igor Dodon is. This message should be delivered to people from villages so that they see that this man is a liar not only in relation to us, those who have Romanian, European views, but also in relation to them because Dodon first of all betrayed his voters. In 2009 he said he was for the integration into the European Union. In 2011 he said the customs union is a utopia, while in 2013 he fully changed his political option,” stated Vlad Biletski.

The Union Caravan is supported by the Movement “People’s Council 2”. The Movement’s head Nicolae Dabija said June 28 is a “liberation day”, as the textbooks said, but it was liberation from the right to speak Romanian, from the name of Romanian and from the right to know the historical truth. “These young people and we came to say that this is not the truth and that a new people, a new nation and a new language were invented on June 28, 1940. Why? Because the glorious Soviet army could not liberate the Romanians from the Romanian yoke and they had to invent the Moldovan nation,” stated Nicolae Dabija. The writer also said that time has come to re-launch the second wave of national renaissance, when the people should be told about the historical truth and be encouraged to overcome the inherited fears.

Director of the Romanian – French Theoretical Lyceum “Gheorghe Asachi” Boris Volosatyi, who is the chairman of the Congress of Teachers, said that June 28 is a day of occupation and of morning when we should get up and we should not wait for another 200 years to realize who we are. This day should represent a day for reconsidering the situation and for returning to the homeland. Each teacher should daily inform the students about the historical truth because the people are misinformed and only the informed ones are strong people.

On June 28, 1940, the Soviet troops entered Bessarabia following the signing of the Ribbentrop-Molotov non-aggression pact between Germany and Russia on August 23, 1939.
