MP Octavian Țîcu will submit to Parliament a draft decision for the establishment of an inquiry commission to investigate "the actions of treason committed by Igor Dodon".
In a press briefing, the MP said that the explanatory notes hold the publicly available information, which allegedly point out that Igor Dodon, the president of the Republic of Moldova, would have received large amounts of money from Russia in order to finance some political parties and to promote Russian interests in Moldova. "It is necessary to initiate an investigation in order to elucidate the legal and factual circumstances of this case", said Octavian Țîcu.
The MP claimed that, through his actions, President Igor Dodon has seriously violated the constitutional provisions that provide that the Republic of Moldova is a sovereign, independent, unitary and indivisible state. "Thus, the head of state violated the oath he gave to the citizens", said the MP.
According to Octavian Țîcu, since the law enforcement bodies did not initiate any action in order to bring light upon this issue, the intervention of Parliament, as the supreme representative body, is required. The MP added that the members of the commission, after interviewing the relevant persons and carrying out the investigation, will present a report in the Parliament plenary.
