The National Unity Party’s candidate for President Octavian Țîcu voted for a prosperous, safe state based on welfare. These are values in which he always believed and for which he will continue fighting, IPN reports.

“I voted for what I’ve always believed in - for a future alongside Romania, for a future alongside the north-Atlantic allies, for a prosperous and safe state,” Octavian Țîcu stated after casting his ballot. He called on the citizens not to allow to be provoked and to be vigilant where there are tensions “as this is what the regime that realizes it is losing the elections wants”.

The politician came to the polling station together with his wife, son and several party mates and also accompanied by MP Iurie Reniță. Octavian Țîcu said that this way he wanted to give a signal that they are early and, despite the autumn weather, the voters should mobilize and vote, especially the young people as they are those who can influence the election outcome by voting.

The candidate’s wife Viorica Țîcu said she expects quantitative and qualitative changes to take place in the near future. The future depends on everyone’s vote. “A President generates responsibility and is a country brand. The person whom we will elect President for the next four years should also generate the trust of our foreign partners,” stated Viorica Țîcu.

The polls are open until 9pm. If need be, their program will be extended for two hours. As many as 2 807 182 citizens eligible to vote are expected to go to the polls today. A minimum voter turnout of one third of the voters put on the register of voters is needed for the elections to be validated.
