MP Octavian Țîcu, candidate of National Unity Party for the local elections in Chisinau, says that he will reconfigure this party. The MP mentions he has received the offer to take over the PUN leadership and that intensive discussions with party representatives on the subject are to take place, IPN reports.

"I will proceed to revamp this political party as the offer is an honour to me. The party is currently in the cards of the political game and in the near future I will certainly take a decision in this regard because we have to discuss a lot of things, it is not that simple, " Octavian Țîcu added on "Fourth Power" program, N4 TV station.

Octavian Țîcu says he joined ACUM Bloc because he wanted to oust from power former Democratic leader Vladimir Plahotniuc and believes that his mission is accomplished. "The reunification of the Romanian space constitutes for me the only political basis, being at the core of my political and intellectual belief. Therefore, there is nothing unusual if I take over the chairmanship of a Unionist party,” specified the MP.

Octavian Țîcu states that it is quite reasonable to take on an existing political project rather than create a new pro-Romanian one because the unionist pole is already split. In addition, the MP maintains he does not endorse the idea of splitting the electorate according to the principle of unification with Romania and European integration.

Octavian Țîcu also mentioned that until PUN put forward his candidacy for the position of mayor of Chisinau he had no relation with the party.

The decision on taking over the party leadership shall be made by the end of the year.
