The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office sent to court the criminal case started against a prosecutor from Ocnita and his accomplice over traffic of influence, IPN reports.
In a communiqué, the Prosecutor General’s Office says a person complained to the police that another person promised to influence a prosecutor to take a favorable decision in a criminal case opened against him for €700.
The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office organized the arrest of the person who said that he can influence the prosecutor to solve the case. The arrested person said he was to transmit the money to a prosecutor of the Ocnita District Prosecutor’s Office. The Supreme Council of Prosecutors decided to suspend the prosecutor from post.
The prosecutor was investigated under arrest, but was then placed under house arrest. He faces a fine of 20,000 to 60,000 lei or two to six years in jail.
Another two prosecutors arrested earlier this year, from Floresti and Nisporeni, are still under investigation.
