The Local Monitoring Commission – a project of the Chisinau Community Justice Center – will monitor how the rights of the persons held in six penitentiaries in the capital city and the suburbs are observed. Daniela Groza, the head of the Community Justice Center, has told Info-Prim Neo that the commission consists of seven representatives of civil society. The project includes training and experience exchange activities for members of the monitoring group. The project will be implemented from February 1 until June 30 with support from the Institute for Penal Reform. Founded in 2007, the Chisinau Community Justice Center is a nongovernmental organizations that aims to ensure the observance of human rights by promoting community justice values and practices.
