The objective of the Moldovan-Romanian interregional economic forum held in Balti was achieved, said the director of the Regional Development Agency North Ion Bodrug. In a news conference, he stated that Romanian economic entities submitted proposals concerning the industrial parks and the free enterprise zone situated in Balti, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to Ion Bodrug, the northern region has a diversified economic potential and the free enterprise zone is its visiting card. The Romanian investors can start certain businesses there, including a line for producing bicycles for the Russian and EU markets. The Romanian businessmen expressed interest in information technology, designing and the tourism sector. The investments attracted to the northern region will contribute to increasing the quality of life and developing the private sector. Ion Parea, chairman of the Regional Council for Development North, said the activities held in Balti during two days represent a beneficial beginning for a bilateral partnership. “We exchanged experience and contacts. The sides will make an analysis and definite steps will be taken in the near future,” he stated. Sorin Maxim, director general of the Regional Development Agency West of Romania, said the forum is only the beginning of a continuous partnership between the regions. “One of the main objectives – to create a positive economic climate for the development of the bilateral relations - was achieved. I’m sure that the projects we will implement together will be successful,” he said. The head of the Regional Development Council West of Romania Nicolae Iotcu said the event was an important step towards improving the relations between the two regions. “At this stage we exchange experience, but at the next stage economic relations will be established between Moldovan and Romanian economic entities and there will be identified ways of developing these relations,” he stated. The Moldovan-Romanian interregional economic forum “Promotion of economic potential and creation of opportunities for attracting investments to the Development Region North” took place on March 28-29. It was organized by the Regional Development Agency North of Moldova and the Regional Development Agency West of Romania under the aegis of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction. The forum brought together over 200 businessmen from Romania and Moldova, representatives of ministries and the two agencies of Moldova and Romania, ambassadors and representatives of NGOs.
